Palm Beach County Hurricane Season Home Watch Checklist
Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, and every Palm Beach County property owner knows the difference twenty-four hours of professional preparation can make. This is the exact checklist Palm Beach Home Watch runs for contract clients from the first named storm of the year through the last.
Pre-Season Preparation (May)
Before the season starts we conduct a documented pre-season inspection at every contract property. Shutter and impact-window verification, generator fuel and function check, exterior loose-item audit, pool preparation protocol confirmed with the pool vendor, insurance policy binder verified on site, and pre-season photo record captured for baseline.
When a Named Storm Enters the Cone
The moment the National Hurricane Center places Palm Beach County inside the cone of uncertainty we begin storm-mode operations. Contract clients are contacted directly with the projected timeline. Pre-storm visits are scheduled 48 to 72 hours ahead of expected impact — shutters verified deployed, exterior loose items secured, pool prepared, generator fueled, and the pre-storm photo record updated and emailed.
Priority Post-Storm Dispatch
Contract clients are inspected first, in the order our route can reach safely. Non-contract requests wait days. This is the single most important reason snowbirds sign up before June — priority dispatch is available only to established contract clients.
What We Look For After a Hurricane
Roof and gutter condition from ground level. Windows, doors, and hurricane hardware. Screens and pool enclosure. Interior water intrusion at every window, sliding door, and any ceiling. Tree and landscape damage. Standing water and drainage. Pool condition and equipment. Fence and gate integrity. Photo documentation of everything, before anything is touched.
Insurance Documentation
Timestamped pre-storm and post-storm photo records are the strongest evidence at claim time. Every report is archived and retrievable. Many of our clients forward the report directly to their carrier or adjuster within hours of a storm.
Signing Up Before June
Contract by May 1 to guarantee priority. The season fills up fast, and the last few days before a named storm are not the time to onboard. Call 561-913-2023.
